100-Mile Training Plan

It’s not impossible for a normal person to run 100 miles. Once you believe that, the challenge becomes so much easier. Ultimately, it all comes down to strategic planning, grit, determination and not necessarily genetic talent.

Importantly, training should be specific to the target. Understand your own ability and what you hope to achieve. A training plan needs to count back from a target date. It needs to be progressive, gradual and ensure that training stimulus is counter balanced with periods of rest. Not only on a weekly basis but a monthly basis.

My 100-Mile training plan is based around a 24-week/ 6-month Macrocycle.

The plan has 3 blocks of 8-weeks – Base, Build and Peak.

Each block has 2 x 4-week blocks that are based on 3-weeks of progressive training and then 1-week of easier training to allow recovery and adaptation.

The training plans are provided on the Final Surge platform.
